KEEP FIT AND WORKOUT WITH JAN

...every Thursday at 6.30pm in the Hall.

  • 60 minutes of different aerobic and toning activities. This has included aerobics, aero boxing, drum sticks, steps, skipping ropes, dancing, weights, mats, interval training.... and more!!!!
  • The class content changes every 4 to 5 weeks. There are two main reasons for this.... firstly the participants don't get bored of the moves and activities and secondly, by changing what exercise you are doing changes the muscles you are using and how you are using them. This means that continuous attendance means that fitness and body tone are always improving. The exercises are planned that all levels of fitness are able to complete them to their own level.
  • A fully qualified and experienced instructor means that alternatives are given for those people who may struggle with a particular move/activity. It's a fun session and the group are lovely and welcoming.
  • New participants ALWAYS WELCOME.
  • Any questions please contact Jan Powell 07929464276 janandant999@googlemail.com fb:WorkoutwithJan

Living Memory Workshops at The National Library of Wales

The aim of the ‘Living Memory’ scheme is to utilise the potential of the National Library of Wales (NLW) graphic and audiovisual collections to unlock memories and to facilitate reminiscence therapy with older people and those living with dementia.

Thank you to those of you who responded to the ‘Living Memory’ online survey conducted last year.  As a result of these responses, the NLW are arranging workshops to share information on how to access digital online collections of old photographs and films, including national collections at the NLW, the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, People’s Collection Wales and the British Film Institute Player.  We will also update you on the themed packs of old photographs and films that the NLW are compiling to distribute to organisations and groups that wish to participate in the scheme.

The workshops are open to anyone working with older people and/or people living with dementia in Wales.

A timetable of the workshops is attached

To book your place on a workshop, or for more information, please contact Gwyneth or Eilir at the library by Friday, January 25th:

Carers for Wales survey

Fairer for Carers

Carers Allowance is the lowest benefit of its kind at £64.60 per week. It is the main benefit for people caring unpaid for family or friends. We want to see Carer’s Allowance significantly increased for all carers in the UK.

In Scotland, Carer’s Allowance is going up by £8.50 per week, to the same level as Jobseeker’s Allowance. In the short term we want Carer’s Allowance in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to be raised by at least £8.50, to match the changes being made in Scotland.

Carers UK is sending a letter on behalf of the 6.5 million carers in the UK to Secretary of State, Esther McVey, calling for Carer's Allowance to be raised to the level of Jobseeker's Allowance.

Please add your signature to this petition, Fairer for Carers you do not have to be a carer, just to care and it only takes a few minutes.
